Welcome to the website of Bury Parish Church, St Mary the Virgin, we are vibrant and historic place of worship in the heart of Bury, Greater Manchester. As part of the Diocese of Manchester in the Church of England, we stand within the Anglican Choral tradition, offering sacramental worship enriched by a strong choral heritage.
The Church exists to worship God and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. At Bury Parish Church, we are here so that all people may encounter the living God, grow in faith, and be transformed by His love.
Our vision is to serve Bury, deepen our faith, care for the marginalised, and share the Good News of Jesus. Everything we do flows from that purpose. In worship, we draw close to God; in service, we reach out in love; in faith, we grow together; and through witness, we proclaim the hope of Christ to our community.
We believe that the Church should be a place of welcome, healing, challenge, and transformation. Whether through Sunday worship, midweek gatherings, pastoral care, or community outreach, our aim is to help people find life in all its fullness through Jesus. We offer a range of opportunities for people of all ages and stages to explore faith and discover their place in God’s story.
Bury Parish Church has stood at the heart of the town for centuries, rooted in prayer and shaped by the changing needs of the people we serve. From education to care for the poor, from civic life to spiritual nurture, we’ve sought to be a sign of God’s presence in Bury.
This website offers a snapshot of what’s happening in our life together. We’re always looking for fresh ways to live out our mission and welcome suggestions as we seek to serve Bury faithfully for Jesus Christ’s sake.
