Charity of the Month - Lions International

This month's charity is Lions International

In 1917, Melvin Jones asked a simple and world-changing question – what if people put their talents to work improving their communities? Almost 100 years later, Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization, with 1.35 million members in more than 46,000 clubs and countless stories of Lions acting on the same simple idea: let's improve our communities.

Lions Clubs International extends their mission of service every day – in local communities, in all corners of the globe. The needs are great and their services broad, including sight, health, youth, elderly, the environment and disaster relief.

Where There's a NEED, There's a LION

"When it comes to meeting challenges, our response is simple: We serve"

In over 200 countries, in hospitals and senior centres, in regions battered by natural disaster, in schools and eyeglass recycling centres, Lions are doing community volunteer work, helping, leading, planning and supporting. Because they are local, they can serve the unique needs of the communities we all live in; and because they are global, they can address challenges that go beyond borders.

Current projects include

Sight Programs
Health Programs
Youth Volunteer Opportunities
Community and Environment Programs
Disaster Relief
