BRANCH LEADER'S LETTER FOR APRIL

WISHING YOU ALL A VERY

HAPPY EASTER

Firstly, I have many thanks to make for all the generous donations of cakes for Mothering Sunday, Easter eggs for the children, the knitted baby items for the hospitals and also knitted chicks for St Paul’s School. The knitted chicks were for a fund raising event and I am pleased to report that we provided over 200 chicks and the school was very grateful. Thank you to everyone who gave not only the financial cost but also their time and energy in support of all these causes.

At the March meeting we had a presentation by Ian Warburton from Street Pastors which was very interesting giving an insight into the valuable work they do in helping people in need on the streets late at night.

In April we will hear from Rev. Gary Kennedy about his visit to two leprosy hospitals in India. Please note our meeting is on the 10th April due to Easter falling at the beginning of April. We are also back to evening meetings and will be celebrating Lady Day at the Holy Communion service at 7.15pm and the meeting will begin at 7.45pm.

In March the Women’s World Day of Prayer service had to be cancelled due to the weather. It may be rearranged but up to date I haven’t had any notice of this but will let you know as and when I hear anything.

The Deanery AGM is to be held at Christ Church Walmersley on the Wednesday 16th May at 7.30pm. There will be the usual Bring and Buy and Raffle.

On the 9th November there will be a service of celebration at York Minster at 11.00am as Mrs Barbara Taylor, President of the province of York, completes her triennium. If anyone is interested in going to this service please can you let me know as numbers are being sought regarding planning for coach travel etc.

In love and friendship
