We are delighted to announce the appointment of the Reverend Julian Heaton as Rector of Bury and Vicar of St Paul, Bury. Julian is currently Vicar of St Anne’s, Sale with St Francis, Sale Moor, in Chester Diocese. Julian writes, “I am both delighted and humbled to be appointed to Bury. I come from south Manchester and have ministered in parishes in Chester Diocese for almost thirty years. My wife, Jackie and I, look forward to this new venture together, to making new friends and to plunging ourselves into the life of Bury, its churches and people. We bring our son, who is starting out on a career as a teacher, our daughter’s spare clothes (she is a medical student, away most of the time) and our cat.

Please pray for us as we prepare to say our farewells to the people of this parish and detach ourselves from the wider family of Chester Diocese. Be assured of our prayers for you all.”

Announced by Diana Hampson and John Ankers.

Reverend Heaton was born in Sale in 1962, educated at William Hulme’s Grammar School in Manchester, studied history at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and trained at St Stephen’s House, an Anglican theological college in Oxford. He has more recently obtained an MA in Ecclesiastical History from Liverpool Hope University.

He has ministered in Stockport, Knutsford and Altrincham, undertaken a hospital chaplaincy in Nottingham and is rural Dean of Bowden.

We very much look forward to his presence with us later in the year.
